Guild Wars is a new kind of MMORPG experience. It eliminates the less exciting aspects of world-map play by using a mission-based design, while still keeping the features that make massive online role-players great. Make new allies in towns or outposts, form a party, and then go tackle a quest together. Your party always has its own unique copy of the quest map, so camping, kill-stealing, and long lines to complete quests are all things of the past. As you play out your quest, you have an unprecedented level of freedom: Your magic can build bridges and open up new pathways, or it can burn down forests and villages. Best of all, you'll never meet new players only to discover that you can't play with them or compete against them because their characters are on a different server than yours -- in Guild Wars, all characters live in one seamless world.

Cantha's Warring Factions widens the horizons of Guild Wars, almost doubling the size of the world. The expansion pack adds whole new ways to experience the game: alliances and factions. In Tyria, players banded together in small guilds and warred against each other, but Cantha is a land of much more complicated politics. Guilds can join together in alliances, align themselves with one of Cantha's two warring factions, and battle other alliances to gain and hold territory. The epic Faction Battles can change the face of Cantha in real time, shifting borders and changing the control of entire cities and towns as battles are won and lost. The Battle Isles play host to most of the new Player vs. Player content, providing alliances a huge battlefield to supplement the Tyrian arenas.

World Of Warcraft

I've been following this game for years (literally) and trust me...this is one you don't want to miss out on. The level of detail put into this game is absolutely stunning. For instance, I walked by a dwarven camp during the open beta and - BANG! There was actually a dwarven mortar team target practising! Then all of the other dwarfs came around and watched the show. Even after that the dwarves begin to have a shooting contest. Mind you, the 'scene' was set up to repeat itself. But it was still pretty amazing. There are a bunch of other things I could talk about, like the scope of the world, the ease and enjoyment of the game for both casual and hardcore players, etc., but I won't bother making you read all that. Just believe me when I say that if you're a fan of warcraft and love MMORPGs this is a must buy.

Best game ever! If you like Everquest, Diablo, Warcraft I, II, or III or love them all, this is the game for you!

I have played quite a few MMOGs and I have to say the only one that didn't give me a sour taste in my mouth is WoW. It isn't anything really new and revolutionary it is more of a feeling of being what was good about older mmos refined and collected into one damn addicting game. The "grind" is broken up by interesting storylines and multiple paths to follow.

This game is, quite simply, the best Fantasy MMORPG I have ever encountered. Having played during the entire 11 day Stress Test, I can honestly say it will probably be around even longer than EverQuest. This work of art has all the magic of EQ, without the many frustrations that finally caused me to give up on EQ (such as extreme grind, a very punitive death penalty, and being forced to group at high levels).
